As a lifelong Miamian, I can say everyone that I know is happy that Miami-Beach is finally cracking down on all the lawlessness that occurs during Spring Break and Memorial Day by tourist that come here just to destroy our city and cause havoc.

as a native to miami, the traffic and population issue during spring break is so real. it takes twice as long to get literally anywhere

Several beaches in the panhandle have done similar things recently. Specifically alcohol bans on beaches. Locals are tired of it and people want to be able to bring their kids to the beach for spring break.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

The City of Miami Beach has always suffered from spring break invasions. Lootings and shootings get old fast. So does travel across the city taking three times as long. The city is actually pretty nice except when the breakers fill the streets with garbage and slow moving crowds.

Great news for the people of Miami. Screw the income. The damage always outweighs how much you make from the drunks.

I’m from Miami and we know not to go to Miami Beach at all for the month of March. These people ruin our beaches and it’s terrible. They put 100 parkings it’s awesome.

I'm sick of how a lot of young Americans HAVE TO party or they feel like they'll die...

I love Brett's dorkiness and authenticity. It makes her so relatable and refreshing.

I never understood why people felt like they had to go out get riproaring drunk, and damage things. Why? What exactly is the point? Now they went too far and the cities are cracking down and I am 100% for it.

As a lifelong Floridian, I can't tell you how much I love this! We wouldn't care who came if they behaved themselves. I remember when Daytona Beach was the hotspot. Regardless of the expected brawls and such, it was so much more civil then. Now it's crazy and you don't even want to go to the grocery store!

I used to live in Daytona Beach. It's people like this that make me not miss it at all. They used to have a college reunion week for a group that I will not mention here, and they would get so unruly that many of the tourist stores actually started closing down and going on vacation themselves during that week to avoid having to put up with their behavior.

My uncle is a sergeant for Miami Beach police. The issues with crime in Miami Beach has grown exponentially over the last 10 years and it’s very dangerous not only during spring break but all the time. During spring Break it has been insane. I’m glad I left Miami after being there my whole life.

I was in Miami a few weeks ago in Little Havana having a great time, beautiful area and wonderful food. It was only a few miles walk back to the cruise port so my wife and I started to walk because it was a beautiful day out. Well, the neighborhoods got seedier and seedier and taxi drivers started pulling over and asking me if we needed a ride, one suggested if I didn't want him, I should call someone. We called an Uber that was cheaper that a taxi, within 1 minutes of being in the Uber, we heard a gun shot, then 2. The Uber driver turned up the radio and accelerated, in the next 30 seconds we heard 3 more shots. This was 2 in the afternoon!!!! Glad Miami is checked off the bucket list, do NOT plan on going back.

Fort Lauderdale got rid of spring breakers first and Daytona was next, guess its Miami's turn

The country is struggling with an inflation crisis yet college kids can afford expensive miami hotels and clubs and travel expenses and drugs too. 🤔

I live in Pinellas County.

They'd cracked down on Spring Breakers in St. Pete/Clearwater/Tampa area decades ago in the 90's. Imposing beach curfews, no alcohol allowed on the beaches (only allowed in a club or it's cabana) and not allowed in public parks, they cracked down on public alcohol use and public intoxication will get you a trip to county jail, increased prosecutions for vandalism and yes, even littering. During Spring Break the sheriff dept's in the area here actually increase the number of staff during spring through summer, so more officers are free to do police work.

So what happened was some Spring Breakers stopped coming here while some others still do but they're a far calmer. Thinned out the crowd, So our beaches, parks and communities are far more family friendly then they ever were.
