In this video, I’ll be answering some of the really great dividend investing questions that I’ve been getting from you guys lately like:

- Why do you only buy dividend stocks?
- What are your thoughts on Altria Group (MO)?
- What are your top 3 book recommendations for dividend investors?
- How many dividend stocks should you own?

The ideas and opinions presented in this video are meant for informational and entertainment purposes only, are not intended to serve as a recommendation to buy or sell any security in any account, and are not an offer or sale of a security. They are also not research reports and are not intended to serve as the basis for any investment decision.

Love these vids! Like keeping my taxable simple. I have two etfs, DGRO and SCHD, then four stocks COST, WSM, MS, LLY. I don’t think I could do more than four stocks. They have solid dividend growth.

My advisors told me b/c I’m so young (23) that it dose not make much sense for me to invest in dividend paying stock portfolios (I don’t do single stocks) rather I’m better off investing in heavily growth focused funds since I have ALOT of time on my side I know I’m sacrificing my Yield on cost I do still have a dividend payer since selling all of it would have been a lot to sell I also have a bond for when the market takes a dive that pays interest monthly (both dividend and interest paying portfolio are monthly so about $225/month and that’s after taking a less dividend more diversified approach to the portfolio as a whole, to be more specific my dividend etf/index fund paid $171 and my bond paid about $55 :)

I buy divs stock, but also I have growth stocks and do some buy and sell on companies that go down for some reason and sell them later when they bounce back. It is a good way to boost your value as counting only in dividends can be very slow in the first 6-8 years.

I ponder if the campaigns of anti smoking had cause MO to drop down. However it’s still one of the best dividend stocks out there. The reason to have a drip is to rely on a stable and passive dividend payouts to live off of. Growth isn’t the main part of it.

Ryne, do you prefer one over the other ETF vs Individual Stock for dividends? I know you own more individual but reference or best strategy?

I'd add this question:

Is it better to drip directly on the same stock that paid the dividend or have the money as cash to buy more of whatever position has a dip at the moment?

I never sell the chicken (stock) that lays the egg (dividend).
