REVERSE Coloring Book?!?! +Mini Art Haul!

Today, we have a mini art haul with some fun new supplies, and I get to try a REVERSE coloring book for the first time! I had never even heard of such a thing until two weeks ago! So come on into my snowy (yes, still snowy! I'll let you know when it starts to melt!) Northwoods art studio and unbox and open some new art supplies with me!

About five or six years ago I found that I love to do watercolor washes and then using a pen draw what I see in the painting. Those have been the most fun for me. This seems similar. For me it’s kind of an organic way to zen doodle. When Amazon sends me the wrong thing sometimes they just send a correction but tell me not to return the item. Probably not worth the cost of postage. Enjoy your reverse coloring book.

I have turned a few pages of my everyday carry sketchbook into reverse coloring using my watercolor paints. I loved the process of making this and I always have something fun to do if I am waiting somewhere. Thanks for another great video.

The reverse colouring book was a new one on me - the idea seems a bit like line & wash where most of the time we put down the linework first and then do the watercolour washes ... ... but occasionally, for fun, it can be interesting to lay down some approximate washes and only then use ink to define the forms with more precision. I can certainly see how a colouring book full of washes would be a great way to relax, with just a liner or pen and then let the mind roam free about the page. It's a shame that Amazon dropped the ball on a couple of items and sent you the wrong supplies - I suspect this kind of error almost never occurs with mainstream art suppliers like Dick Blick (which is one reason I use them wherever possible and only turn to Amazon nowadays as a last resort). Look forward to seeing the new recording equipment and devices in action in future videos - thanks for sharing the unboxing with us all - best wishes, Brian.

Hullo Amy, I see that you already noticed that you got the wrong kind of paint in other comments! I have several Aqua Elite brushes and I noticed that they have regular rounds and long belly rounds! The long belly hold so much more water/paint! Sweet haul and a nice video overall, thank you for sharing your time and efforts with us! Keep creating and going just as you are! I know that we will be watching your next video too!

Thanks for a fun video. Love the floral piece you did and the bee, really great! It's so funny how you saw flowers and all I could see was purple people talking to each other, lol. Amazon has been pretty good about just sending replacements if it's a small item, might be worth a shot to reach out to them instead of keeping the brush and paint you didn't order, just a thought

Oh, wow, that's a lovely drawing 😍 That being said, this is a big no for me. I could do something like what you did with the bubbles but I think my brain is just too literal to see flowers and leaves in a sea of colorful inks 😅 Maybe in a few years 😜

ALERT don't open that black. It's oil paint not gouache. You don't want that in your gouache brushes
