Professional cameras now touting 6K and even 8K video recording capabilities. This megapixel arms race for ever-higher resolutions sparks divided opinions. Is capturing beyond 4K overkill? Or do those extra megapixels provide tangible creative and future-proofing advantages? There are reasonable cases to be made on both sides, so let’s try to understand every aspect of those.

I use 1080 daily basis. Regular user, family movies, family memories. Sometimes, 720! Never 60 fps. I can’t remember filming 4K. My footages is for phones, notebooks, at maximum 55” tv, no edit. For me it’s good. Save a lot of space and it’s easy to store and move. I have 20 years of family footage. I see people recording 4K for instagram! LOL.

Spend more for more resolution = “future proofing”

In terms of building a pc

Anytime you're arguing that newer technology is a waste, you're probably already behind the curve. CURRENTLY 8K screens are prohibitively expensive & rare in the consumer market, but visual recognition of resolution is not the real objective of 8K. It's the ability to massively edit & layer on platforms like Davinci Resolve that offers more flexibility & options. In the 1990s people were satisfied with VHS video because they had nothing better. When you're talking about nothing but a $1000 difference between a Nikon Z8 that shoots 8K vs. $2500 hybrid cameras that only shoot 4K, it's a no-brainer to go with 8K. That's the price of a moderately price premium lens with the potential to keep you in the game for a lot more than creating content for YouTube.

Why record 8k....the majority of people watching it will watch on a phone ....that doesn't show 8k

The human eye doesn't see beyond 4k yup..there is a limit 😮

Anything above 1080 is bad for our eyes.
