the Process - An Affinity Designer vector portrait of Andre 3000 in 6 mins

This vector illustration took over 2hrs in Affinity Designer to complete and I somehow edited it down to roughly 6 mins. I tried to focus on the most important parts of the process which are: Linework, shadows, midtones, highlights, the teeth for some reason, eyes, clothing, and texture.

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments. Be kind to yourself and take no advice.

I love this style and your end results are incredible. As a newbie to Designer I wasn't able to follow what you were doing or what tools you were using along the way. Would you consider doing another video with details and instructions at some point? It is awesome what you are doing, it's exciting, and I would love to know more. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Just out of curiosity, how long did the actual drawing work take? It would take me a few days (has taken me days) to do a "portrait" and mine don't look nearly as good (of course, I don't have a lot of "talent").

It looks to me while watching the video like you have a number of "productivity tricks" that allow you to do things much quicker than I can. I figure I'm "brute forcing" the work and just don't know the tools well enough to get the software to help do the work.

Does that make sense?

PS. I love the passion you have for your art. I think it really comes out in your work.
