Helping you decide what to get this summer from my experience with these two bikes. I found that the MT09 is more practical for me. What would you choose?

Been on super sports for about 30 years... I'm now pushing 60 and my back and wrists hurt after every ride, I picked up a 2023 MT 09 SP last summer and I absolutely love it.

I disagree about the leaning. Naked bikes are made for the twisties - they are more flickable through tight corners and also get out of a corner quicker since it's a lot of work to keep the revs that high up (hence V4's are kicking inline 4's in moto gp races). Where sport bikes excel is on high speed corners - like at a track or certain wider highways with large, sweeping corners. The precision with which they attack a line a higher speeds is incredible. So it depends what kind of twisties you're talking about - but I believe most of us can agree that there is a difference between the two. Overall, sport bikes are sexy and excel and one or two things, while naked bikes are more versatile and easier to live with. The right answer is - you need both in your garage.. along with a cruiser and an adventure bike. Life's too short to not see one of each in your garage and pick the right tool for your mood that day.

I personally bought the mt09 because of the comfort.
I have been on many bikes from super sports to adventure bikes and I always lean back to Sport tourers and nakeds.
Riding those War Machines make my wrists and back hurt 30 minutes in, impossible for a full day of riding without very frequent stops and fiddling around in the seat to get comfortable.
Want insane power and comfortability? All of the options I mentioned are extremely powerful good for track and daily use.
But if you really are a die hard rider I would recommend getting 2 motorcycles if you are ok for it financially.
I personally intend on getting a second bike soon for those spirited rides.

Naked for sure… More comfortable, wind is pushing at u much more so it feels faster at slower speed so its a bit safer and it slows down a bit better too bcs its less aerodynamic and ofc low torque

Thanks for your thoughts man. I'm waiting for my 2022 MT09-SP to arrive and I can't wait to ride it. My neighbour has a Triumph 675SE and I was riding that for a few weekends. I don't regret the naked decision as it can tackle both worlds (city riding/commuting and day-long touring rides) and be great in both instead of awesome in one and not the other. Love the videos and keep it up.

I love my 2023 Kawasaki Z900RS, and for being my first motorcycle to ride and buy, I don't regret getting a naked bike, and I love the aesthetic of it.

I've owned both an R1 and MT 10. That said, Sport (R1) in your younger years, then, Naked (MT 10) as you get a little older.
That's how I did it, but who am I to tell anyone what to do. Just ride. 😀

When we are still young : sport, supermoto etc
When we are older : naked, adv, cruiser etc

Spend your youth with aggresive bikes first then comfy bikes second not the other way around

Or like me, superbike for around town and ADV for touring

I have had big inline 6 cylinder bikes, 1300 inline 4s, some v4s etc. So I bought a MT09 because of its weight since I am about 80 years old.
I didn’t realize that I had found the Holy Grail of motorcycles. In the zero to 120 mph range it will stay with anything and usually blow the doors off of most. The bike does big roads little roads and race tracks with equal aplomb. It is very hard not to ride it like a complete idiot because it wants to go. The thing builds speed so effortlessly and is extremely smooth. It handles twisties like race bikes of only a few years ago. Good riding position for me at six feet and 190 pounds with riding gear on. I put a throttle lock cruise control on and a little touring windshield. Cleaned up the tail and added a handful of little bits. I find it will work for a trip bike very nicely.
Was concerned about only 3.7 gallons of gas but found if you ride comely ( within legal limits) you can run 180 miles before looking for gas. The fact it has power and torque everywhere means you won’t be constantly shifting.
Top speed on my MT09 comes in 5th gear at redline, to produce 144 mph. If can hold on to it a quarter mile takes 9.98 seconds at a trap speed of 119 mph. Love it.

I also felt that my mt09 2022 is not stable in high speeds no matter how light I was on the handle bars. I put hyperpro steering dumper and its a day and night difference so so much better. Your video is great as always. BTW for me personally the low end torque of the 600 is a deal breaker and I'll trade in time my mto9 only for 1000 Superbike or something like the touno v4

I think the fz09 looks better, i rather the fz for the reasons he mentioned, plus im not going to be driving around at 200kph for a long time to risking getting fine for stunting

Thanks, this video helped me as well.. while I am exploring my next bike..

Previous gen R6 had about 130 horses. Not a huge difference but still significant enough to win dragraces to a Mt09, provided a long enough track.
