Destroyer Movie Review - Collider @ TIFF 2018

Perri Nemiroff and Adam Chitwood review Destroyer at TIFF 2018. Destroyer stars Nicole Kidman as a LAPD detective, whose past undercover work comes back to haunt her when the old gang leader resurfaces. The neo-noir crime thriller is directed by Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Jennifer's Body) and co-stars Sebastian Stan, Toby Kebbell and Jade Pettyjohn.

The film's cast also includes Tatiana Maslany, Bradley Whitford, and Scoot McNairy. It arrives in theaters on December 25th.

Wow. I'm here at TIFF and Perri is bang on. Sebastian Stan is solid, Kidman is great and Kusama's direction was good but not great. Destroyer wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. Damn you Sneider! 7 on 10 from me. -Mike from Montreal

Not a great review. Too wrapped up in Kidman's appearance. They can't seem to get over her not looking like her. Mark Kermode's review was more precise and better critiqued.

I agree with the B- rating. I saw this today and I felt it was too long and too much of the lead character was left unexplained. Nicole Kidman's character, Erin is a mess, maybe an alcoholic? maybe a drug addict? maybe both, but we are never let let on as to how she got to be that way. The scenes with her daughter were unnecessary. Nicole's wigs and she wore many, looked awkward.
