Sadly, reviving the Muppets is like reviving the Carol Burnette show. It was so much a product of its time and of the combination of artists that were there at that time. I appreciate Jason Segal's attempt which was done with such love. However, the Muppets were never nostalgic. They were rebels who had to stay wholesome enough for the TV standards. Restrained subversive humor gave it an edge and honed their creativity. All the other Muppet projects after Jim Henson died, were basically Tribute bands. They would have done better to use Muppet craftsmanship for something different with the same restrained subversive sensibility

I love the Muppets and it greatly saddens me that modern society can’t seem to find a place for them in their hearts, they are not for children or adults, not for old nor new, they are pure charm, talent, laughter and entertainment, and as such timeless. If only they could be allowed to be what they are, not try to be ‘modern’.

I saw that the Muppets are coming out with a production called “ muppets haunted mansion” on Disney+, coming this fall.
I never ever knew about those proposed projects of the Muppets. They look like they would’ve been a lot of fun.
