UK Heatwave health warnings issued on ‘hottest day of year’

Britons are being urged to check in on the vulnerable and elderly amid warnings that temperatures are set to be hotter in the UK than in Jamaica and the Maldives.

Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst said it could possibly be “the hottest day of the year so far” on Monday as a heat-health alert was issued.

Londoners were told to expect “uncomfortable” sticky nights with the mercury remaining in the 20s overnight into Tuesday. The heatwave is expected to last until at least the weekend.

The Authorities in this country always treat us like children who cannot figure anything out for ourselves. If we stick our heads out of the window we can see the sun and take the requisite action. It is the elderly who suffer from excessive heat and should be taken care of.

The summers of 1975 and 1976 were amongst the hottest I can remember. In 76 the reservoirs ran dry we had stand pipes in the streets rationing water, and the roads were melting. Going back to my childhood in the 60s the nights wre unbearable for weeks on end. My point is its hot now . So what? Its nothing new

Oh for gods sake, so it's hot I remember the summer of l976, it was 30 degrees for 4 months but we survived, I was a kid then but we did not make such a fuss then🤣🤣🤣

fuckin hilarious. Was on holiday in Menorca all last week. 30 to 34C all week. No death warnings. All the elderly walking around with their dogs. Must admit, went in a bar with an ice cold Guinness pump covered in ice and they had none. That was a bit traumatic.
