So true, I don’t even get two birthdays. For Christmas, they put there differences aside, but they still fight, Christmas sucks, and only get the same amount of presents

I remember my parents arguing a few days before they got a divorce. My dad was depressed so he had to go to a clinic right after the divorce. When they argued for the last time, me and my little sister(we were both young at that time) hid upstairs and I tried to make my sister stop crying because she was so scared of whats going to happen. Now, years later my parents are each living their own lives and are doing better, but its definitely something traumatic for a child to experience.

I used to be upset with myself but one thing I am glad about now is that they stayed civil for me and my brothers sake so they don’t hate each other too much and it’s better because they were arguing….we were eight when they sat us down……..now we are almost fourteen….another thing that helped was that others also had divorced parents so they didn’t be all like “I wish….”

This is said by someone that had to live with divorced parents, although we had a schedule and I could go to both houses and my parents didn’t hate each other, it really sucked. Mostly to see half of your friends have their happy loving family all together and in your mind all you can think about is how much you would love if your parents could get back together. You always have one wish as a child and mine was all go to vacations together and all go to Mexico and have the best lives. It never happened and then you regret having those wishes as a kid.
