Awesome !
Now i'm going to go out to my dads woodworking shop and surprise him by sharpening all his chisels for him with his angel grinder. He hates sharpening his chisels. He will be soooo happy !

Another guy in the belt sander camp right here. I keep two sorts of chisels in the box....cheap beaters that get smacked into lumber, and at least one that is shaving sharp for important detail work.

A small piece of a cereal box and some blue tape make excellent chisel shields that last a surprisingly long time.

I've always liked how you explain in the simplest terms how to do things that makes your build easier and look more professional.

I sharpen my good chisels at home on whetstones, but i have a few tips for onsite sharpening of beater/cheap chisels. Try using a belt sander not your grinder, it will get the back and bevel alot flatter and is alot easier to control the heat. Also when you use your stone face the chisel running parallel not perpendicular to your stone. Your stone will stay flatter for longer. Less flattening of your stones, make them last longer and could save you some coin 👍

That process looks easier than me getting out my Work Sharp Ken Onion Knife Sharpener. I'll have to give your way a tryout, and save my dainty Work Sharp sharpening belts for my serious knife sharpening.

If a man wanted to make a change in his life how hard would it be to get a job at Perkins Enterprises? Currently living in Kentucky but I'm seriously wanting to make a change in my life for the better.

Use a 1/8" grinding rock or a flap disk not a cut off wheel. Cut off wheels love to explode

I use a belt sander if I have to like an absolute savage haha

For the first (worst) grind, use a belt sander to get the rough angle, and flat (as best you can). Then go on to diamond sharpener plates with cutting fluid. Once you go diamond, you never go back to an old oilstone. Nice vid all the same.

A way to sharpen when you really dont have anything and just need a sharp edge. Find a fairly flat piece of concrete and go to town. You may not want to do it all the time but when in need it works great.
