No calculator needed:
3 . SQR(k) / 2 = 1 so 3 . SQR(k) = 2 and (SQR(k))² = (2/3)² = 4/9
k = 4/9

K=4/9 did it two ways to ensure I didn't make a mistake. Math checks.

why get two negatives? Negatives cause problems for students, a better approach is to always get the variable to be positive. So 6 - 5 = 3rootk/w id far better?
