This is why girls go do things with other girls and guys do separate things. Not every little thing is compatible and that is fine.

If your girl seeks relationship advice from Tiktok, “that’s kind of a sign the relationship is going to fail.”

My wife left me because I am "ignorant" and "apathetic."
I don't know what that means, but I don't care.

If you want to test your partner, your relationship isn't ok.

The problem here is that she feels the need to constantly test her partner instead of simply enjoying what they have together.

I have been married for 36 years. Raised 3 good children into independent adulthood and now have 4 grandchildren. But if i talk about my hobbies - I can watch my wifes eyes glaze over. If she talks about interpersonal relationships, i tend to lock myself in the garage and make ugly furniture.

Relationships take time and effort, there is no "hack".

Don’t date a person who takes their relationship advice from TikTok, or any other social media platform for that matter.

Imagine a woman taking this idea seriously and leaving you because you didn't have an in-depth conversation about a chickadee that flew by the window.

Maybe this would be a great time to learn what your partner isn't interested in and stop trying to find ways to challenge them into feigning interest. Take a dose of your own medicine with a stupid TikTok "relationship test'

Interesting that all the comments dump on this and Matt has said his piece. I understand the negative takes and if a woman does try to constantly test her man or use this as a test, that would be a bad thing. This "test" was something that J. Peterson talked about and it came out of a research study that they did. They brought in couples to stay at a Bed and Breakfast type place and stay under observation. They identified a few hard factors that determined with a certain accuracy whether or not the couple would stay together. The couples most likely to fail would be one partner showing complete disinterest in something mundane that the other partner was excited about. The bird "test" was an example.

Absolute nonsense. I’ve been married over 30 yrs and I can be looking right at my husband and not hear a single word. He is the same way. That doesn’t mean we don’t love each other. It just means we aren’t interested in what’s being said. Of course once I realize I’m doing it I apologize.

As a bird watcher, I do not consider seeing a bird as a mundane thing but I well understand that it is likely to be no big deal to a non-birder.

What if I tell my partner that the bird isn't real and that it's a government robot spying on us?

Girl: look at that bird
Guy: don’t you have a 1/4 mil in useless student loans that you should be focusing on paying off?

Ladies, keep taking advice from TikTok and then come back in 20 years!!!

Love it when a kid who's been in a few "Situationships" in her 20s gives relationship advice.
Let me know when you've been in a 20 year marriage.
Key to a long term relationship????
My grandfather said it best.
Spend as little time with her as possible.
He was married to my grandmother for 53 years.

My wife and I are married many years. She is not an academic. I am. Ergo we do not share that but we do have similar interests. If it is a shared interest we enjoy it together. If it is an interest only one of us shares then we enjoy our diversity.

If I mentioned a bird, my husband would respond because he likes birds. If I mentioned, for example, look at her shoes or purse, I would get the non committal grunt.
