i wanted to say that this was very hard to choose. i think that there are plenty of sad and happy songs throughout her discography, and that personal experiences add to wether or not you think the song is happy or sad. people were suggesting other songs they think were happier or sadder, and honestly i agree with all of them! these were just my opinions :)

Tolerate It is definitely much sadder than Champagne Problems, it deserved track5 positions, it's definitely saddest song of them. ''I made you my temple, my mural, my sky, now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life'' just this line is making it the saddest song on Evermore.

Ronan is definitely the saddest song on Red TV. It legitimately is probably the saddest song I've ever listened to. I've listened to it twice and I can't bring myself to listen to it again. Champagne Problems is definitely a sad song but I cry through Happiness and Marjorie every time. They hit so hard. A lot of Evermore hits pretty hard. I definitely agree on Long Story Short though. Also, I don't think New Years Day is supposed to be sad. It's sad to me for personal reasons that don't gave anything to do with the actual song but it's meant to be a love song about wanting more than just the exciting part of a relationship. I agree with a lot of the other ones though. This comment seems so negative 😅 no hate whatever, it was a good video.

I feel like Ronan is objectively the saddest song she’s written. No song really comes close to how depressing it is. I feel like if I were to make a tier list for the saddest songs, there would be an entire separate tier for Ronan, and I’d just rank the rest accordingly. Forever Winter is also pretty depressing considering the story behind it. Also I feel like Willow is the happiest song of evermore?

I agree with them all except reputation, I don't think NYD is a sad song. But this video also made me realize that reputation doesn't really have very sad songs. Still my preference goes to getaway car

Actually I think clean is a happy song, it's about after a long time of "not breathing" you feel like you can breathe and yes obviously you miss the past but now that you are clean you will never risk it, in my opinion I Wish You Would is the saddest but Taylor's discography is art and art is interpreted as everyone wants it to be

I personally think that "Dancing with our hands tied" is the saddest song on Reputation. I mean, the girl literally wrote it when she thought of breaking up with Joe even tho she was the happiest with him. New years Day reminisces the feeling of reinsurance that she'll be there for him no matter what. DWOHT is more of an agnst song.

for me, the saddest one in reputation is definitely getaway car. it is a very pop-ish, enjoyable track but the whole "ill-fated, right person wrong time" love story she tells through it pains me <\3

i love that Last Kiss is getting attention for how depressing it is lmbo. also personally to me the saddest on folklore is Epiphany, it's such a gorgeous and heartbreaking song. it doesn't get NEARLY enough love compared to other folklore songs either!

edit: holy cow i forgot to mention Out of the Woods, it's my favorite and i'd personally choose it for being the saddest on 1989. the sad part of it is overlooked because it's so catchy and upbeat but the lyrics get to me every time, it's so

Hm, I've never thought of Clean as being sad. I've always seen it as being about recovery and peace after a tumultuous time. It's actually fairly uplifting to me, albeit in a subdued way.
