I am embarrassed that I have been building furniture and various projects over the years and not known the simple trick you just showed me. Thanks for taking the time to help others.

Thanks, your video was only just over a minute long but I still managed to learn something from it.

I agree with bashor49 Straight to the point and without blasting music that drowns out our talking.  Thank you, Ted

Ted you are a life saver! I am doing a diy pole barn kit and am at the point of putting up the porch rafters but wasn't sure how to get that angle right. Super explanation, thank you!!

I have had a speeds for years but never had to do angle cuts I'm building backyard paint booth and needed to learn how to make angle cuts with my miter saw. Later on I plan on building a nice shed as well so time to learn how to do rafter roofing where the wood meets up.

Nice fast, easy explanation. Building my first roof with a friend. I also have an adjustable angle finder since our pitch is just shy of a 3/12 so the speed square will not get me dead on, but it will get me real close. Since I saw this, I know know to go to a 2/12 pitch which will let me run long on the angle, but get me close enough to use angle finder. Thanks again.

Is this for every roof?? How will I find the angle for my roof?

What about the ridge tho? How do you know how long to make your rafters to get the perfect pitch?

What exactly is a 4/12 pitch, is it rise and run and how is that 18 1/2 degrees? Sorry I'm a novice at framing and this video has taught me how to use a square, but wondering what the terms actually mean. Thank you.
