Edward Luce gives the keynote address of the conference The Many Faces of Liberalism on October 2, 2018.
Edward Luce is the Financial Times' chief U.S. commentator. Prior to that, he held a number of positions at the FT, including South Asia bureau chief, Washington bureau chief, Philippines correspondent, and capital markets editor. He has also been Geneva-based correspondent for The Guardian newspaper of the U.K. He is the author of three books: In Spite of the Gods: The Rise of Modern India (2006); Time to Start Thinking: The Spectre of American Decline (2012); and The Retreat of Western Liberalism (2017). He was the speechwriter to Larry Summers, treasury secretary in the Clinton administration.
