Soundtracking with Peach & Prosumer

The sixth episode of Soundtracking was filmed at Palace Vinyl in Crystal Palace, South London, ahead of next weekend's Houghton Festival. For this instalment, we followed Peach and Prosumer into the booth, two artists with disparate palettes but who share a taste for colour and groove.

Together they picked out records that remind them of each other, as well as peak-time heat and the all-important dance floor curveball.

I think this succintly shows the difference between old and new school. Old school being about the feel of a record, what it says, and new school about if it's 'good' or 'bad', dwelling in this focus on technical aspects and the illusion of an ultimate outside judgement. A record is good if it feels good to you! It's a shame that there aren't many popular young DJ's anymore that want to play something with emotion, something personal, instead of just wanting to be 'cool'.
