As an avid Apollo and Space Shuttle program fan I'm happy they are so carefull with the SLS not shying away from canceling tests. This rocket looks amazing and I hope this program succeeds.

Love the unbiased coverage, positivity and occasional banter! Can't wait for coverage on launch day!

So, what used to happen on the Shuttle (and perhaps it's different with the SLS configuration so I could be completely off base here) is that at T-31 seconds the GLS announced "GLS is go for auto-sequence start, " basically the same as what occurred here, the "passing over" of ground control to the Shuttle's on-board computers. What REALLY occurred though was that the GLS actually shared oversight of all the Shuttle's redline conditions with its RSLS (Redundant Set Launch Sequencer or more familiarly its General Purpose Computers [GPS]) at this "handoff" point...so to me, and using my familiar Shuttle language, the SLS's "RSLS" immediately saw something (probably the LH2 leak) that'd been comp'd out in the GLS but not in its "RSLS." That's just a guess of course but it looked exactly like that in terms of the way the software and vehicle reacted...also, to me, for them to get down to getting an automatic cutoff at T-31 seconds is a MAJOR success for this test, regardless of what the commentary is here. They got APU's started, firing chain armed and both lower and upper stage LH2/LO2 tanks pressurized, a great accomplishment!! A few tweaks and this vehicle will be ready to launch!!

As a Dutch viewer, outside of the U.S.A., I think Nasa needs this Rocket. It hasn't had a great program like Apollo and made important milestones since Apollo ended. As a human species we need to find New Frontiers and Artemis is the only program capable of doing it. No matter of its reusable or not. And besides, Budget is a dirty word.

Can I have the Cliff Notes version of the test? :-)
edit: countus interruptus... the wet dream^H^H^H^H^Hdress didn't go as planned. Color me surprised.

Can you please not call out two different countdown clocks at the same time. Stick with one or the other, preferably the one you are showing on the screen. Thanks

Great coverage as always thank you :-) For the astonishing amount of money paid for this vehicle another GSE failure would be extremely embarrassing. Edit: SLS is a beautiful vehicle, its gorgeous. Sadly so was the Space Shuttle, another stunning vehicle :-) But uhm ... does anyone in Nasa understand the words timing & budget? Is it the US politicians spending all this money so they look good? errr? Not sure about that's working out so well ;-)

I love your guys work but I think SLS is going to be a major flop. with cost overrun and at so many levels like the larger SLS requires a special transporter that's already projected to be 4yrs behind and over budget already, OH and 0% reusable

You keep saying nothing happened something obviously happened at failure 10 minutes or 29 seconds is still a failure

I love and respect NASA and its science and engineering prowess but proceeding with this program is Criminal given the rapid and significantly cheaper development of the Space X starship. The technology of reusability is far underway at this point and to proceed with a large multi-billion dollar throw-away rocket is no longer acceptable.

wow this orange tin can could even fly in 2022???

I guess if NASA is good with flying 30 year old engines.. space X has a way to go on their reusability. ;-)
