Even among us Germans, Heidegger and his style are feared and notorious, although not as bad as Kant and Hegel.
I think Ernst Jünger's "The Worker" is a pretty good approach to better understanding the question concerning technology. Heidegger himself admitted in his letters to Jünger and in his essay on Jünger how much "The Worker" influenced him. A direct link between the two works is definitely evident.

I have the advantage of reading philosophy for years, especially phenomenology, but I understood it and his point and so have many others. He is difficult to get to understand without this, but being difficult for you doesn’t mean he’s completely un-understandable

They're called Komposita, it's pretty wild. As a native German speaker who has a pretty good understanding of language, it's a joyful experience to read Heidegger and make use of Heideggerian terminology. It's just unfortunate how discussing (Heideggerian) ontology with others, who do not know German (or don't have such extensive understanding of Germanistics), is basically impossible.

Heidegger is a mess really. I find it unfathomable a person is this committed to obscurity.

I'm German, I don't find it incomprehensible, but I don't find his work to be as foundational as its made out to be. Rather, self-important. To think nobody ever dealt about the nature of being before him, I don't think anything could say 'hubris' louder.
