is there a way to prove that the distance from the point on the tangent line to the focus Is the same distance as the focus to the y intercept of the tangent line?

What do you do if the point of tangency in question is on the y-axis? Or better yet, if the vertex is not on the y-axis? Thanks!

What happens if the given point is outside the parabola and is not on the same axis as the focus? Example y2 = 6x; p (-5.2)
