Показать описание
The NASA Capacity Building Program (CBP) collaborated with Groundwork USA to host a series of trainings (December 2020 and April 2021) introducing satellite remote sensing and NASA resources for monitoring urban environments. The trainings provide resources, open-source information, and pre-recorded and live sessions to help guide and motivate high school students from all over the United States, to become involved with Earth science and Earth observations. Under the guidance of NASA mentors, a team of NASA interns developed live and pre-recorded sessions on subtopics of remote sensing that demonstrate how satellite data can be used to understand the environment. The team provided specific case studies addressed urban heat island effect, urban tree canopy, and urban flooding. The training also discussed general facts about NASA and provided professional development resources such as resume building and interview tips.
