Hey EZ. I'm a 16 year old who owns a 62 bug. These videos you make are such a great help! Sometimes just reading on forums and reading literature just aren't enough for someone like me. I need to see things done in front of my eyes before ideas really click. Thank you for these videos you make and especially the transmission tips series. Incredible work EZ. Keep it up!

Happy to see you back in the game 👍 I learned from an old German guy back in the 70's to bring engine up to temperature and then adjust to a loose zero gap. Engine will sound like it has hydraulic lifters. When cold check adjustment of valves and document. Each cylinder runs at different temperatures and adjustment might be different for each valve. Can get 10k out of adjustment 👍

Nice instruction, to many people neglect the valve adjustment and burn their valves and wonder why it happened. Thanks GZ

Like the Garrison Keilor of vw. The story is there for the education along with the technicalities of the education. Thank you for doing all this.

Great info, I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks.  I lived in Colorado and Wyoming back in the 80's and 90's and it seemed like the wind was always blowing.

I'm gonna adjust valves on my 69 square this weekend. It has a 1776 and I've had it for a year now and started sounding a little choppy. Thanks for the vid. Cheers🇩🇪👍🏽

Great that's a great maintenance tip for the baja. Dont forget to put your rotor on inside the distributor cap I remember I did that once lol That's a beautiful Mural on that grainery

I had chromoly pushrods in my beetle engine and changed them out for aluminum. Chromoly pushrods will always clatter when hot because the GAP grows as the engine heats. I set my gaps using chromo pushrods at 0.001 (loose zero) when stone cold (just enought to be able to spin the pushrods), and measured the gap when hot, and it had grown to 0.012! I was getting lower oil pressure when hot because of the huge gaps, and lots of valve train noise. Switched to stock aluminum pushrods, and set gap to 0.004 cold, and engine ran with much higher oil pressure when hot, and more power/better when hot also. I am a firm non-beleiver in chromoly pushrods for aircooled vw engines.

Hey EZ, was it you who recommends Moly grease for bearings? I've been looking for a tub of the stuff, Sta-Lube?, but aren't having much luck...probably just having a senior moment. Thanks.

I`ve seen dyno results with loose valve clearance and tight and there is no noticeable gain....I don`t like loud valve either....
