Just agreeing with so many others. Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions. I was able to successfully adjust the valve on my '75 bug (dual port 1600cc).

Thank you Chris, very informative video. I just purchased a 71' Super beetle so this adjustment was done at a shop by a pro. But this will help me (A Rookie) in the near future when I check the valves next time. Thanks Again.

Thank you for anouther wonderful video. I have come to like your repair and maintenance videos to be at the top of the pack because
you always give an explanation of why your are doing a particular
job. After 4 decades of British Cars for my hobby I decided to try
the ( California market with paperwork provenance ) the 74 Super Beetle that I event tally found here in Canada. I really like your informed work and your accompanying explanations, because to me they are both essential to becoming a good DIY Beetle mechanic. Keep the great videos coming please Chris !

oh man, this brings back memories. Had a 68 and then a 73 Super as my first 2 cars in the late 90s. I was doing almost 3000 miles a month and I was checking the valves every oil change. People said I was nuts for checking the valves so often but that motor ran like a watch.

very high quality video on this job, very detailed, but I would recomend waiting more than 3 hrs after shutting off the enigne. To be 100% sure, wait to the day after so it's _stone cold_ before adjusteing your valves

I have watched many VW repair tutorials, but Chris, yours are the best.  Your instruction videos are informative, clear, and direct; plus it makes me look and sound like I know what I am doing in front of my neighbors LOL. Anyway, thanks a bunch. Oh one question, every time I down shift to 2nd, I grind the gear slightly, is it me or something else? Could be both. Thanks again for your videos. Excellent

Had a 68 Beetle. A 72 Super Beetle. A 74 van with a Porsche dual carb Porsche engine, and a 76 Beetle with a sun roof and fuel injection. I wish I had them all back.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your videos.  I finally have my first bug (well, 79 super beetle) and I've used your videos for a lot of maintenance.  I wish you lived closer (in MN), I may want to get my cabrio restored.  Thinking maybe a resto mod?  Not sure for that year if it's a good idea or just stock.

It gives you the correct intake of oxygen and the exhaust of carbon gases. If these are not handled correctly, the car will not run efficiently, all this has to be right if you want less wear on the motor. The motor will not perform to its max potential, you can kill it if not maintained.
