In this video we use the probabilities of winning one round to calculating the probabilities of winning an entire battle. We begin with the basic battles (fewer than 3 dice).

just for clarification, i think you forgot to add that the attacker needs always +1 to to attack. the attacker cannot lose all its units to the defence. if the deffender has 1, the attacker needs 2 since it can not lose more than 1. if the deffender has 2, the attacker needs at least 3 since the attacker can lose 2. a piece of land can not be left empty after an attack. its always a +1 scenario, so even if there are 2 units on the attacker side, you can use only 1 to attack if there is only 1 defender, and you need at least 3 if there are 2 defenders. at least that is the rulebook of the version i have (very old though)
