Hurricane Helene South Carolina Flooding

Why I haven’t posted any videos lately. I’ve been a little preoccupied. Storm tore up all kinds of stuff locally. Bridges out, roads out still tens of thousands without electricity 10 days after Hurricane Helene came through.
South Carolina flood damage from Helene. Not covered on the news much but many areas of SC mountains and foothills got flooded out. This is but one example. Please keep all those that were affected by this storm in every area/state in your thoughts and prayers.

We had water in our houses my whole life unfortunately... in 73 (I was 12), it was chest deep in my grandfathers house... we rebuilt it... did that a couple of times... I don't remember the exact date but sometime before 2000, can't remember, but that last flood the water didn't go down for almost 3 months Mom and Dad had moved to the "new" house that was supposed to be above the high water mark, and lived on the second floor, lucky for them, they had a lift station, and so their septic just kept going, the drain field was way up on high ground a ways from the river. We waded the debris off ever day or so, dealt with gators, snakes, you name it... they refused to leave, but a couple years later they finally said enough, and moved from that river we all grew up on and love so much... every time the government told us, it's a hundred year flood... after a while you begin to realize they have no idea what they are talking about. We lived on the Suwannee River, about 30 miles from where it dumps into the gulf... down there it's a fairly large river... probably 1, 000 feet across or more. Most people don't know anything about the power of water, but I grew up with it, learned it at an early age. I did learn... I still live near a river... but far enough away if water gets in my house, it's a thousand year flood... probably about to have one of those on Wednesday when Milton comes to visit (Still haven't finished the cleanup from Helene), no one ever promised us life would be easy, and it hasn't been. But I'm certainly glad I'm still here living it.

Oh my word, I’m so glad your mother is ok. Years of hard work and memories washed away…but if I know y’all’s work ethic, she’s well cared for and will rebuild. She’s blessed to have y’all. Thankful you’re ok on the mountain, and prepped up. The storm came here and split around us, by the grace of God. Our prayers are with you and all of the people in the area. What a mess! Glad your mom is ok. I live in Augusta, GA and work in SC. It's really bad, but we did not get that flooding. We are all lucky to still be here. I hope everything gets restored soon. 🙏

Dang brother I sure hate that for you and your family man, our thoughts and prayers are with y’all! Sure glad they took your advice and got out before the storm, if we can help in any way please let us know. Man I’m gonna be honest with you, I’ve been through a bunch of major hurricanes in Florida and seen some things over the years. This one was just different, maybe because of the fact of you just don’t get this kind of weather here and it caused so much major damage. Definitely has been difficult to see how everything has been playing out everywhere. So many people around us were not prepared for this kind of thing and it has been difficult to see. Y’all stay safe out there!

I had a 100 year flood in my area and I’ve planned accordingly. Not that you can do much if your whole town mud slides off a mountain

Document everything on the inside and outside with photos and videos, including measurement from the finished floor to the interior water line. Copy them onto a disk or thumb drive and give to your flood adjuster. Also send them physically or via email to the flood policy carrier once you have a claim number.

Then you can do the flood cut and get the wet crap out so it doesn't continue to deteriorate. This is good advice but use at your own discretion.
