BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WCIV) — The picturesque landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains has been dramatically altered by Hurricane Helene, leaving Black Mountain among the hardest-hit areas in Western North Carolina.

The community is grappling with the aftermath, facing months, if not years, of recovery.

This was a fascinating report, no power, no water, no flushing, no refrigeration, loss of roads. How long before their fuel runs out? Wonderful how people come together

My niece and her husband just bought a home there and started their life after they got married. They are trapped but have neighbors annd friends joining provisions to survive. 💔🙏🏻

I've lived in NC for the past 40+ years and these folks in our mountain communities are the most friendly and hardworking folks as you will find anywhere. If there is anything that you have the power to do, I urge you to help them.

Our 1, 000 year flood in Colorado in 2013 has taken 10 years to recover completely with many changes. It was horrible, yet the North Carolina even is far more devastating... My prayers for you all.
