This scene alone actualy shows the standing of Ben Beckman and how strong he is. While the others wait for the command of Shanks to wether go meet Ruffy or not. Shanks has a 1 on 1 drink and conversation with Ben Beckman like a partner telling him he let's get the One Piece. Similar dynamic can also be seen between Rayleigh and Roger. As he went only to Rayleigh to tell him that he is going to surrender to the WG. Also when they both met Roger didn't say join me but let's turn this world upside down together. The way he talked with Rayleigh with clearly more of a partner. Same way how Luffy met Zoro. Similar dynamic was also between Whitebeard and Oden, who Whitebeard call his brother and not his son.
While Katakuri or King are the strongest members of their respective crews. They were always seen just as their strongest subordinates. Marco was the only borderline case, in despite the dynamics between him and Whitebeard being that of father and son. Marco was seen as strong enough and having the qualities to lead the Whitebeard pirates.

You know, I was just thinking about this because I am obsessed with the red movie with his daughter, and I was kind of thinking of myself if Luffy was ever in a position again where he’s not a little boy anymore would Shanks protect him, and I’m thinking based off of the promise that was made is that he’s going to surpass shanks that is my thought

He didn’t join the giants in egghead. Which could be because he’s not personally ready to see Luffy. Or because he knows Luffy can’t go after it when all the gorosei will follow him. Plus egghead is paralleling sabaody. So it’s possible the anger for the celestial dragons will be brought up again. Leading to him going on a raid on Marijoa.
