Same scenario happened to me today. Me, my husband, daughter and mother-in-law were back from a pilgrimage, visiting couple temples and were in ethnic attires with forehead full of kumkumam and wearing Jasmine flowers in our hair. We happened to stop by a famous french concept eaterie at pondicherry to try their pastries. The people there treated us like we don't belong their. I'm an orthodontist running 2 dental clinics in Chennai and my husband is a business man. Mere vibuthi kunkumam and flowers made them judge us. If I'm facing this kind of judgement I'm worried about a normal housewife from a middle class family visiting their bakery to try a new cuisine since I know it's quite famous and people from different walks of life would like to try it. Irony is the owner of the place and workers were all in saree and a bindi still they decided to judge us!
