Fun fact: this trick becomes less impressive when you realize that doing the first 4 steps will always bring you to the first number that you thought of, and also the digits of the first 10 numbers of the 9 times tables will always add up to 9.

So you can litterally just have the trick go "multiply the number you thought of by 9 and then add the resulting numbers toghether" and call it a day.
