Xfer OTT is a free multiband dynamics VST. Great for heavy compression and helping synths cut through the mix. You can also use it to come up with some interesting sounds.
Camel crusher is a free VST plugin by camel audio. It is a saturation/distortion plugin and is great for adding some grit and punch to your snares or synths.
Sleepy Time Records Transient Shaper is a free VST plugin that shapes the transient of your sound. It's great for taking away the initial punch and pushing things a little further back in the mix.
Vocal Doubler is a free VST plugin from Izotope. It is used to double up on a vocal. Perfect for backing vocals. It layers multiple of the same vocal and then slightly delays them and detunes them according to the settings.
Ozone Imager 2 is another free VST plugin from Izotope. It's great for having a visual representation of the stereo image. You can also use it to add or remove stereo width with two simple controls.
