Solar Lumber Kiln - Summer 2022

Build process for a solar kiln to dry green lumber.

General concept based off these plans

Significant modifications were required. I wanted something much smaller. Also my only available location has the short axis facing south so I had to slant the roof along that long direction for best exposure. I still needed ventilation to flow between the stickers of the wood stack so vents are on the east side and a fan on the west pulling air out. I did not have room for a baffle panel for fans for air circulation within the kiln only as shown in the linked plans. I may have to add more fans to get more air flow
