I did an experiment measuring the external and internal temperatures of some wood in my Solar Kiln on a summer day to see just how hot the inside of the wood got.
What a fantastic source of information. Thank you for sharing, it really helps me. I guess the key to wood sterilization in a solar kiln is the quality of the build and insulation to trap that heat. Perhaps a bigger solar collector would help.

Interesting video Paul. I think you are right in that a thermally controlled switch and battery would help. I don't think a solar kiln will ever get up to and maintain temperature for the required time for wood sterilization without an additional source of heat but you seem creative enough to prove me wrong 😁

I wonder if you had left the thermocouple in the wood (not taking it out every time you measured the temp) if it would have made any difference in the readings.
