I tried to make this Vi-Hart style, but it ended up more basic-vlogger's-draw-my-life style.

Hello, can you help understand how sound waves is received by a lets say microphone. this device has simple parts, these parts some how change waves to electrical waves and then transmit them over a wire. The receiving end collects these waves and then changes them back to sound waves and the end user hears the exact sound or at least very similar to the original. how can these simple devices do that? when ai generated voices do not sound like human voices. I understand in 2020 computer generated voices are almost human like.

I am referring to 30 years ago and before. i just can't get my head around the process of the sound wave being received and tranferred to electric waves and then back very quickly.

when know when any kind of data moves between any computer or device, there is some sort of data transferred and processed and then outputted.

but in my scenario of the microphone or a 50 year old phone call. what is the data processing unit in those devices???
