Google Is DITCHING Samsung

Google is ditching Samsung and that's actually great news for smartphone enthusiasts. Google teamed up with Samsung for the Tensor chipsets. These processors are semi-custom designs, effectively being Samsung Exynos processors with some Google components such as their machine learning chip on top. But due to lackluster performance, Google has decided to ditch not only their Exynos chips but their foundry altogether.
Yes, that means Google is all set to launch their first fully custom Tensor chipset for the Pixel phones.

To be honest, when Samsung switched to Snapdragon worldwide, it was the greatest decision Samsung made, in my opinion. I think Google should do the same. Competition is always a great thing for companies and consumers ❤

Best decision made by pixel yet. It just makes sense. Pixel got to compete and well exynos is holding it back.

What’s funny Sal is how we tech invested people always recommend Pixels but usually end up buying iPhones or Galaxy S devices. All jokes aside it would be great to see Google do this.

Now that's what needed to be done. The Samsungs chipsets is the only letdown in pixel linup.

That's a great decision. Better for competition. Now Samsung should push their foundry more to make it better. Also building full custom processor will enable Google to have more control. They can make their phones more efficient and effective.

As a Samsung user since the Note II, this makes sense to me. Why in the world should they use a chip that Samsung themselves have ditched. It's all about companies outdoing one another which forces the competitors to up their game. This is the only way that we the consumer gets the best out of them.

1:28 Performance is actually not that far behind but considering they launch so late in the year they actually need a 8 Gen 3 competitor and skip a generation which sadly won't happen

I want Samsung and Qualcomm to make a custom chip in close collaboration

The only reason they were buying Exynos chips was the bargain price they were getting them for. Then Google would make a killing by pricing their Pixels like competitor flagships.

Google needs designs that make you wanna buy their product, this is one thing iphone and samsung definitely have over the pixel phones. They both look super beautiful to look at. Get the hardware and software right, and pixel will be promising 👌

they should fix their software first before developing custom chip. Like how the fuck is the most stock android on pixel is so buggy than the competition

I've often thought Samsung should develop it's own platform and ditch Android.

In the end the consumer always wins...
Yea thats why I'm buying a new phone every 2-3 years with less features and more cost, and the CEOs of these companys are buying islands and yachts...

A very much needed change. Best decision ever for pixel ! I was contemplating getting an S24 ultra because I am getting sick of Google's shitty tensor chips, and the fact that Samsung has a better all around camera system including the front camera. And just has that ultra premium feel. But maybe with Google partnering with TSMC they might put out a phone to rival Samsung in all areas and perhaps keep my custom.

well, it makes sense if they make their fully customized chip, and its bad news that most companies have moved or are planning to move away from Samsung Foundry to TSMC, well, that feels like less competition if TSMC starts making all the chips, phones would get more expensive. Samsung just really needs to step up their foundry game, i hope this will push Samsung to invest and innovate more, else, we might have to start spending almost twice the money on phones.
