I hope that I don't come across as being insensitive or uncaring, however, I have a question: As a baby boomer I recall that commercial baby formula was not present and/or on the store shelves in my early days. What did women do to feed their babies before Enfamil, Similac and other brands of baby formula came on the market (I'm not speaking of women who breastfeed)? I remember carnation evaporated milk being used before we had over the counter formulas. Today's modern mothers come across to me as being totally helpless and clueless!

Also, this is an example of what can happen when large companies are permitted to take over smaller manufacturers. When one or two companies make the largest percentage of a product and the plant, for whatever reason has to shut down, this is the end result not to mention the added shortages caused by a pandemic.

Didn't this administration buy a stockpile of formula and send it to Ukraine?

Maybe parents should breast feed their babies and save on formula.

Shouldn’t have let one company have a virtual monopoly. But then again smaller companies can’t pay as much to buy politicians.

I don't know if this question makes sense to anyone or not. Why are their formulas out there on the market that they tell you not to give babies what's wrong with that picture. If we shouldn't feed those particular formulas to babies. Why are they still on the market?

Stop exporting formula! Give these manufacturers incentives to hire more people and increase production.

Watered down or homemade formula would only be for the short-term. I don't think it would be more catastrophic than dying from hunger. Would they prefer the babies starve in the interim? In addition, I certainly hope they don't panic buy baby formula and cause other babies to suffer. Scary stuff.

Hmm, maybe Abbot should have spent some of that $3 billion on properly maintaining their unsanitary factory rather than buying back their own stock. Capitalism at its finest.

Why can't these modern day women feed their babies the way babies have always been fed since humans have existed on this planet 😕? The only reason why women have breast is so that they can breastfeed their babies, and some women seem to have forgotten about that fact 🤔. Why would any women risk feeding their baby a possibly dangerous formula when women can produce milk all by their self, plus it is the best nutrition that a infant possibly get. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but for the most part why pay for possibly dangerous formulas when a woman can produce milk right from her own body 🤔. I personally know women that still breastfeed even though they have a job, so working is not an excuse. These working women just use a pump. If the mother is on medication or if she is ill then I could understand why she may feed her infant a formula. All I'm saying is why buy the cow when can get the healthier milk for free. Human breast milk is the best nutrition for an infant and it's also free. You can't beat healthier plus free, because it's a win win situation.
