Football Manager can be an overwhelming game to jump into and it’s not just knowing how everything works. There is a whole way of understanding the theory of how to play FM that you just pick up through hours and hours of getting beaten up because your tactic is not balanced enough. That totally didn’t happen to me and I am not recounting a personal experience.

This video is designed to make you better at that theory part right now, so that when you finish watching it you will open up FM again and be better than before. There are so many parts of FM that won’t be in this video, but that is so I can make this video like 30 times and it will still be effective at helping people every time.

In terms of finding out if someone's concerned about their playing time, I like to look at "Happiness" on dynamics page. It's colour coded, easier to spot at a glance who's pissed off about playing time.

As soon as you set training to double intensity it’s almost like a cheat code… your average players get much better, unrealistically better in fact… it’s almost like the rest of the teams aren’t aware of it

Hey Zealand I have a great idea for a series for you. You should buy a mystery football kit and based on what team you get you should do a save with them so you could have an easy team like Man City or a hard team from a Thailand called Police Tero (that was definitely not a kit I got from them) and think it would be very interesting to see how thinks would go and even if you wanted to you could do it within a season deadline where you have maybe 5 seasons to try get as much success with a team and then after those 5 seasons buy another shirt and then try get that job or something like that I don’t know it’s just an idea but whatever team you’re playing with you have to wear their kit or else there will be consequences

Playing time agreements are the bane of my FM existence. It’s not that I can’t balance it out, it just eats up so much of my time, constantly checking dynamics to see who’s concerned about their playing time now, which sub-par, highly influential player I need to put on the pitch before he ruins my club by complaining to teammates, etc. In addition not all “concerned about playing time” indicators are the same, sometimes if the player is temperamental or distant with you, they’ll just constantly be concerned about their playing time, no matter what you do. Fortunately it doesn’t seem to do anything, but Ben White and Lokonga are giving me anxiety lol

If they can't fit into the squad by 20/21 years old then just be brutal and get rid, chances are they may hit potential at another club and be bought back. Like for instance I got Konate for cheap cause he was not being played at liverpool. Had him for a season and sold him to Real for 40 mil, they barely played him and got him back in Jan for 25 mil. Same happened for Roko Simic the croat striker. Can game the market and make a profit for your club while retaining the players you want

About playing time one piece of advice: NEVER, for any reason, set STAR PLAYER as a playing time. That will mean that the player expects to be playing in every single game. Yes, even if he's unfit.
