Director Saul Dibb takes the helm for this period drama adapted from Amanda Foreman's best-selling novel Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, documenting the romantic entanglements of Georgiana Cavendish (Keira Knightley), a beautiful and clever woman who becomes a celebrity of British high society when she marries the Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes) and becomes consort to one of the most powerful men in England. Beloved for her trend-setting fashion designs as well as her political activism, Georgiana's fire and wit make her a beloved figure everywhere but her own home, where her cold and distant husband's control over her is stifling, soon sending her into the arms of a another man -- an act that soon forces her to learn about the brutal difference in the rights afforded to 18th century men and women.

I read that in real life at first Georgiana's parents didn't think that the Duke of Devonshire was the right match for her. And they were right in the end, how sad.

This was an excellent film. The last scene when you realize Georgina has given up her soul for her children is heartbreaking. I don't cry when I watch movies. I cried. Keira Knightley is amazing and truly lives the role. She's also a strikingly beautiful woman.

Brilliant Movie, very emotional. I couldn't stop crying, there were so many parts that really got to me when she lost her child, when she could not see her one true love because, her husband(duke) has banned her from him.

The Duke was an absolute gruesome, heartless and complete animal. After watching the strong Georgiana's life, I feel very disturbed and incredibly sad for her. I feel so sad for her. She did not deserve such a gruesome fate. I hope she's in a better place now, with her children and Charles. Bess and the pig shall suffer in hell for eternity. I can't imagine how incredible Georgiana is. And can't imagine how she could've put up with all of this.

The child she gives up in the film, Eliza..one of her daughters becomes a 4x g-gmother of Fergie
