In 1941 when the Germans went to capture Kiev Airport Russian Paratroopers gave the German attackers a nasty fright. They knew how to fight properly. That same unit defended the factory district at Stalingrad and held it until zhukov relieved them

Having family who fought in the Soviet Army against the Nazis, I find this opinion of the Soviet soldiers by Germans a way of trying to deflect their own strategic/tactical failures and technological inferiority against the Soviets.
Their accounts try to create a mythological animal and using mildly racist terms like "herd instinct" are quite ridiculous.
Every man starves, every man flees against overwhelming firepower and every man freezes when exposed to extreme conditions, regardless of ethnicity. It is the army that prepares for these conditions that endures them, not some made up superhuman concept of your opponent.

I completely agree on your last point - German generals desperately tried to cover up their own failures and incompetence against an opponent they considered subhuman. Common excuses used are "losing only because of mass enemy numbers", bringing up the myth of "human wave tactics", "If only Hitler listened to his generals", "General Winter", etc...

It's a classic example of avoiding responsibility for your own failures.

I was born in Irkutsk and lived in Markovo until the age of 12. Our winters where cold (-35 to -55 Celsius) and the summers hot and dry (30 to 35 Celsius). The children loved to play outside no matter the weather. And in winter after the sauna you would jump into the snow. Good for circulation and imune system.

Could you do a video about the British Invasion on Argentina in 1806 and 1807, it was a relatively big confrontation and little is known about it

Mhmm... sounds like a generic way of how any enemy combatant would describe their enemy...

great video ! you just should take care of anachronism, for example at 1:44, the battle is taking place before the creation of the t34-85 which is the tank you represented

Is there also the opposite? Russian view of german soldiers?

I remember reading a diary of a German tanker. He pointed out how puzzling it was to fight Russians. They sometimes retreated from good positions, but at other times made huge sacrifices for seemingly insignificant villages, taking them at all costs. They never knew what the Russians would do next. Everything was possible at any time at any place.

He also reported an incident where they captured a Russian KV tank crew, which had just driven through their lines at full speed without firing a single shot. The later captured men stated they were ordered to drive to a certain point on the map, which is what they did.

Wow the old video hits. Seems you’ve always had a fascination with Russian soldiers. Looking forward to your video on the legacy of Wagner 5 years from now
