The last samurai visits Shiramine Jingu shrine in Kyoto and introduces Tomonooshasai festival on November 15th. At the festival, two teams of Kyudo, Japanese archery compete each other over their skill in beautiful traditional costumes. He also explains the history of the festival and the rules of the game. All the Japanese archery members belong to Ogasawara-ryu school of martial art.

This concept of 2 armies with their Taisho dueling is really cool! Personally I dabble in Heki-ryu. Would love to try my skill against my Ogasawara-ryu peers!

shooting with one arm bare, i know its for safety reasons but its hard to deny the cool factor. i was aware of archery and sanjusangendo but not shiramine shrine! i think that area of kyoto is underrated as far as tourists visiting goes. usually i don't see as many foreigners in that area. thank you for the video, really interesting. i am glad i found your channel.
