not sure I would characterize these as overlooked events. And "fast forwarding" from the Suez crisis of the 1950s to the plague of 1300s doesn't seem like a good lead in.

Hardly overlooked. I didn't know about the first one but the others are familiar to me. Am I an historian? No, I'm a carpenter (retired) with a penchant for astronomy. Perhaps today's education system made you think these are forgotten.
