Be careful everyone doing this it's a one pound tank = 16 ounces that's rated to hold 1 pound = 16 ounces of propane. It is best to use a scale to measure this, if overfilled can be very dangerous

You need to tell people to not fill it more than 29oz…… the tank weighs 13oz’s empty fill the tank 16 more oz’s…. Weigh it with a kitchen scale

I buy a 5lb bottle its lightweight that cost 5-6 camp bottles and you can refill for just like 3$ its more safe and can transport in your vehicule..

You need to weigh it to make sure you are not filling past 80%. Propane needs room to expand when it gets warm.

You dont ever fill tank up 100% propane expands. It won’t be good when tank explodes. Always fill 80%

One thing to note that is not being said, I have filled my own for 20+years. Turning the 20 lb upside down is required to fill the little bottles with gas instead of vapor. Problem is, any rust or contaminate in the 20lb will go directly into the little bottle. Most things like camp stoves will be fine. My dad ruined a large camp oven with sediment and I ruined a Mr. Buddy heater because of sediment. They make a filter assembly that should be used on high end lpg items to keep sediment from stopping up the system.

If you don't weigh the cylinder before and after filling, you can overfill it. Put it in your hot car to go camping and the relief valve starts to let propane into your car. This is not the safe way to refill cylinders.
