Hi Guys, this weeks episode is a bit of a longer one and its got a LOT of detail. However bare with us as we rebuild an absolutely stunning old anchor winch from start to finish, taking it from a siezed up pile of rusty cast iron to a spotless and completely functional lovely new winch for BRUPEG.

It's not the anchor that keeps the boat in one place, it's the weight of the chain. Just a random bit of knowledge I retained from my Navy years. Love your boat, you both will make excellent sailors.

Another good way to clean parts is to use a electric crockpot and white vinegar, let it cook in the vinegar under low heat for a few hours, and that works really good.

That winch should let out and bring the chain and anchor in without a problem I'd say ! Good job folks !

On any seal exposed to water and sea water, coat the metal with grease before you press it in . That will go a long way to preventing sea water from getting between the seal and the casting . It's one of the causes of seal failure on ships

i find repacking bearings relaxing gives the mind a chance to wander from rest of busy day

I would suggest when you have that nut machined, make it extra wide so you catch good threads out closer to the end of the shaft.
Those close in should have been chased.

Nothin' like a dry rubber on your shaft while you're polishing it...and your wife just sets there and smile's.... hahaha....great video liked the longer format..
