Neville's parents lost their memories, he gets bullied, he has few friends, the golden trio avoids him, but yet he still chose to be a hero and save the golden trio and the wizarding world.

Neville was honestly so underrated.

Yes, Harry grew up in a terrible environment, but as soon as he entered Hogwarts he was surrounded by love and support and encouragement. He had friends to help him with every challenge and adversity.

Neville was deeply traumatized and much older when his parents were killed. He truly understood what he was seeing. He was almost a societal outcast, and though some kids kinda' looked out for him, he didn't really have any friends or support. He was so alone. He could have easily given in to rage and pain. He had to dig so deep to find that strength and kind of reclaim his life from the darkness and pain that hung over him. He's a real hero.

Also, I realize I mis-spoke when I said his parents are dead and that they are actually alive, mentally broken and deranged after suffering horrific torture at the hands of the Lestranges'. I'd argue that's worse.

His parents continue to suffer every day. His parents were subjected to so much pain that it broke them. Completely shattered their sanity. He has to remember that every time he sees them.

Harry's parents at least got a reasonably quick death.

Neville proved himself way before that. He took the beatings and curses to protect the younger kids and ran the da while harry was off hunting horcruxes. Neville was a way underrated character. Im glad he got his moment in the sun.

Neville is the most gangsta of the whole franchise. Stands up to his friends, helps them when needed, doesn’t back down when challenged, stays a good person despite what life had handed him, and stands up to the people that are responsible for his misfortune without hesitation.

Not to mention taking over leadership of the DA during Harry’s absence. He also helped coordinate the resistance. Dude is an incredibly underrated character.
