Surgical treatment for distal clavicle fracture involves securing the bone fragments of the collarbone, located near the shoulder joint. Surgical clavicle repair may involve open surgery or minimally invasive techniques, depending on the severity of the injury and the preference of the surgeon. #collarbone #claviclefracture #shouldersurgery

I broke my clavicle bone in 4th grade during recess. I’m now in 10th grade and it still hurts to this day. I haven’t gotten any surgeries done for it because the doctor said it’s not a bad break.

Broke mine in a motorcycle accident in 2016. Largest plate needed to hold in place with 12 screws. Five from sternum to break, and 7 by the rotator. Plus slivers of bone tied together with sutures and glued. Now in 2023 pain never really goes away

I am pharmacist but had worked for 10 years in Orthopedic field with Synthes as Product Specialist for Trauma. Since then I fell in love with orthopedic surgery ❤

I got a big fracture, proximal side, left clavicle, 5 pieces, quite a weird break...motorcycle accident, got a 4-5 inch titanium grade 2 plate and 9 screws....14 stitches.
I was curious if i move around too much, can i accidentally affect the healing process or move my broken bones fragments out of place? How do i check if its okay, if i didnt mess it up already.
Im a very paranoid person, anyone answering this would be a great help tbh

I broke mine two weeks ago and I’m doing really good! My arm doesn’t hurt that badly and I had my first day out of my sling. I’m a kid so it’s a shorter recovery so I should be almost back to normal in a couple weeks.

Actually doing an internal fixation on a clavicle is fairly new. They didn't do either of mine in the eighties. But, now it's fairly routine.
