I think making comments on this video is just a stupidity, we already had one partition in 1947 and millions were killed. Another one will cause more than that not only Sikhs but Hindu Brothers and Sisters. Please stop criticizing each other religions and start thinking how to encourage good and healthy relations.
US has all races and they all live together with love, why can't we..??

A true Sikh will always thank this man for saving Sikhs from being called Gaddars.
Extremist Sikhs hail Bhindrawala as a hero...but forget that it was he who took weapons to harmandir sahib , hold the devotees as captive , killed thousands of innocents people.
But they will not held him responsible, Beware of such Deshdrohis...
This was the man who cleansed the temple of terrorists.
For Patriot Sikhs he is the HERO, A true Sikh, who fought for his Country. For Traitors, the Terrorist Bhindrawala will remain a hero... a Talibani styled illiterate, who wanted to split nation.
SALUTE SIR!!

An excellent interviewer. No shouting, no below the belt questions. A rare species found in India now a days.

I think he is real sikh who cleansed golden temple from terrorists .
In Future Sikhs will be proud of him
unlike the some fanatics who preach hatred and play with emotions of people following faith .
He is real follower of Sikhism.

It was how an interview should be conducted. Difficult questions asked but no shouting, no mud slinging .

I have known Gen Brar when he was a Brigadier in the late seventies. At the time of this operation I was posted at Jallandhar. He is a thorough gentleman and a professional soldier. Inspite of his personal feelings at the time of the operation, he kept them aside and carried out the assigned operation with success notwithstanding the terms of reference imposed. It needs a lot of character and discipline to execute to a task like this. He is a true soldier for whom duty is above everything else. This task is a lot tougher than fighting an enemy equipped with all available weaponry.

I am Sikh & I'll never forgive Bhindrawala, Akalis & Indra gandhi who were so drunk in the intoxication of power that the most holiest place was chosen as battle ground to settle their political scores. And the consequences of this operation, we Sikhs of Delhi & others living outside Punjab were murdered on streets. Only if Bhindrawala had shown some courage & love for his people & had fought the battle outside Gurudwara, none of this would've happened. But Vinash Kale Viprit Buddhi. He even called for killings of Hindus. I don't know who in his right mind call that man Bhindrawala a saint. I am done with these religious lunatics. Nation always first. Jai Hind

Being a sikh it pains me wat happned at Darbar Sahib. But demanding Khalistan in itself was wrong in many ways. to start of with asking for a landlocked state b/w india nd pakistan was gonna be a diaster. We wud hav been like Afganistan. Secondly letting go Punjab wud mean letting go Kashmir. India wud never let that happen.

Shahbeg singh was the hero of bangladesh war. He was commanding the mukti bahni.
This is what the system does to you.Its injustices turn a patriot into a blood thirsty militant.
What a crying shame !!

At 23:00, interviewer asks “ was any effort made to reach out to the people inside to leave peacefully?”
Gen Brar fumbles for a few seconds and responds: we asked the Intelligence to do so and they told that their efforts didn’t work out.”
In other words, we have no clear record of those efforts. If we put it in perspective to Gen Sinha’s interview in the same series where he refers to answers from the Defence Minister, “it’s all politics”, we can extract a more judicious understanding of what was going on in the country at that time under the pretext of maintaining law and order.
More than a decade ago, I had interviewed a senior officer from Intelligence posted in Punjab during this time and his words still resonate with me, “terrorism was created”.
Whatever happened was deplorable; the merciless killings and a state of lawlessness for decades to come. Even today, Punjab has lacks a sophisticated educational infrastructure (IITs & IIMs) and youth is being pushed to unemployment and drugs.
Regardless of whichever religion, community or state is impacted, our country should not be a playground for politicians. Period.

It was Pakistan's interference & weapons across the border & political masters or power seekers of punjab who waged morcha against central govt & the reluctance of the then prime Minister to fulfill those demands then state terrorism. Also injustice to a very Capable General Shubeg Singh who was a man to be reckoned with 'Liberation of Bangla Desh '.Another factor was youth unrest which all lead to political crisis turned into religious fold .It could have been averted.

Lt. Gen. Brar is an army man and he followed the orders like a true soldier. So asking questions such as "why", "if-then-else", or "But" to Mr. Brar makes no sense. The moment Bindranwale and his men entered the holy place with guns and ammunitions', they lost all their credibility (doesn't matter saint or not). Yes, it would have been better if this incident could have been avoided but we all can learn from the past and avoid mistakes in the future instead of harboring "revenge".

Sikhs got played by Pakistani ISI and unfortunately some of them are still being played by Pakistani Army.

They took away Kartarpur once they got the investment back and Propoganda did not run as per their expectation. Pakistan Army wants to take a revenge of Bangladesh creation by using Sikhs. This is very sad😔

I have read his book so was aware of the tactical aspect of the Operations, Gen Brar is a Soldier, his words come out as a Soldier asked to finish a task. Sometimes they are asked to clean the dirt created by the political class. It's easy for us to comment now but those were dark times.

1.Why haven't you asked about burning the Sikh reference library?
2. The operation was over on 8th June but the pilgrims were allowed to visit Darbar sahib on 28th June what is going on for next 20 days after the completion of operation?

I feel we are all too small to judge the operation blue star. It is the darkest chapter in the Sikh History. Either one can be in favor of the operation or one can oppose it. I am the one who oppose it for my own reasons. I just wish this never happened. :(

Mr. K S Brar is man of great caliber. He had done his duty with level of highest standards keeping the importance of holy place. We salute to the great leading officer. You had put you and your family life in a risk for the rest of the life.

Don't blame the Armymen who were carrying out orders .
Armymen put their life on line to get things done .
Things which a normal civilian/bureaucrats cannot do.

Whenever this tragic massacre of 1984 is remembered, the wounds of the mind are refreshed and even today, 38 years later, it is very sad to admit that our holy place of worship had been bombed by the army of 'our own' country and turned into rubble. This incident filled the mind with a sense of alienation which is still alive
But aftee 38 years, going through introspection one can conclude that blaming only KS Brar is not perhaps justified because he is being blamed for it only by those who are either naive or those who were themselves guilty but to divert attention from them, all the blame was laid on K .S. Brar who was actually bound to do his duty as a soldier. Indira Gandhi, her kitchen cabinet, some fanatical Hindus and Sikhs, the Akali leadership - mainly Parkash Singh, Badal, Gurchan Singh Tohra, Balwant Singh Ramuwalia, Surjit Singh Barnala, Balwant Singh etc etc were responsible for this massacre. They are prime accused. Bhindrawala, who was once a religious leader, fell prey to these cunning foxes and could not understand the dirty politics of these shrewd foxes. This tragic incident wounded the psyche of the Sikh community and sense of alienation prevailed forever.
