Fiber will actually block the absorption and breakdown of the food that you’re eating. It’s a physical barrier that gets in the way of the enzyme getting to the food to break it down. It’s also a physical barrier between those broken down nutrients and the lumen of your intestines then to be absorbed so it actually delays things like absorption. That’s actually an argument that some people would make for eating fruit was that it actually delays and stops your body from absorbing all the sugar in that fruit. You’re still going to absorb some of it but thats the argument, is that it delays and prevents absorption of all the nutrients available. So if you’re eating a steak and you’re eating that with salad and fiber that’s going to change how your body digests that meat. You absorb about 98% of the meat that you eat if you’re not eating fiber and there’s other things too that disrupt your digestion as well like protease inhibitors, wheat and soy that stop the enzymatic breakdown of protein in your gut. That can be a problem if you’re having meat in a sandwich and prevent you from digesting all the meat and protein you ate.

I love when you said there's never gonna be a diet that right for every person. This is a fact and I too get frustrated at hearing prople saying the best diet is this or that one...if it works for you, woohoo; but it doesn't mean that it is right for me.

My digestive symptoms improved when I tested my home for toxic mold, moved out, threw away all my belongings that carried mold spores and couldn’t be cleaned (bedding, wood, leather, thick clothes, papers, books) and detoxed the mold from my system. This was HUGE and life altering to go through but it worked. I was being exposed to mold and couldn’t even smell it or see it. It was inside the walls from a roof leak!!!

I used to get extremely reactive to fiber and had to quit fiber, but now that I’ve detoxed, I can get some fiber again.

So just something to consider for those who are suffering: it could be in your environment!

(Btw my biliary dyskinesia improved also which doc said was impossible!)

Not related to this topic, but do you know why I could get more undigested food in stool after upping betaine HCL?

Chronic IBS sufferer here. Eliminating fiber and switching into one meal a day (mostly eggs, pure sardines, butter, some cheese) resolved my chronic obnoxious bloating and diarrhea (I had despite my already 2-3 years of keto-carnivore style) in 4–5 days. I think I might have a chronic gallbladder problem (sludge or cholecystitis). I did the "famous" epsom salt/olive oil/grapefruit juice flush ones, I think it helped a bit, and I'm planning to do it again. Dr Berg's gallbladder support supplement seems to be slowly helping too (2 before bed, 2 in the morning). Tried tones of other stuff advertised everywhere (spent 1000s of $), nothing helped much. The US healthcare is useless for chronic digestive problems, moreover, you get more harm than help.
After years of trials and errors my verdict for fixing digestion (for me) is: 1. Eat less often/do not snack. 2. Eat keto-carnivore whole foods, reduce or eliminate fiber, meat and eggs are the greatest 3. Fasting and empty stomach is a bliss

Modern society really screwed up the human system, but the genetics still the same. Your genes still know what to do since you have good habits.
