மீஞ்சூர் அடுத்த கொசஸ்தலை ஆற்றங்கரை அருகில் பெரியமடியூர் கிராமம் உள்ளது. இங்குள்ள நிலத்தில் இருந்த வேப்பமரத்திலிருந்து திடீரென நறுமணம் வீசத் தொடங்கியதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. இதனையறிந்த பொதுமக்கள் திரண்டு வந்து பார்த்த போது, வேப்ப மரத்தின் கீழ் லிங்கம் வடிவில் ஒன்று இருப்பதை கண்டனர்.

இதையடுத்து வேப்பமரத்தின் அடியில் இருந்த மண்ணை தோண்டிய போது, வேருக்கு இடையில் 3 அடி உயரமுள்ள சிவலிங்கம் சிலை இருப்பது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. அதைத்தொடர்ந்து, கிராம மக்கள் முன்னிலையில் சிவலிங்கம் தோண்டி எடுக்கப்பட்டது. மேலும், இந்த சிவலிங்கம் சிலை சதுர வடிவில் இருப்பதால் ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் பழமை வாய்ந்ததாக இருக்கலாம் என கூறப்படுகிறது.

இதனை தொடர்ந்து கோவில் குருக்கள் அங்கு வரவழைக்கப்பட்டு சிவலிங்கத்துக்கு பூஜைகள் நடைபெற்றது. இந்த செய்தியை கேட்டு சிவலிங்கத்தை காண அப்பகுதியில் ஏராளமான பொதுமக்கள் திரண்டு 

வருவதால் பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.

Periyamadiyur village is located near the river bank of Kosasthalai next to Minsur. It is said that the aroma suddenly began to emanate from the firewood in the ground. When the public came to know about this, they saw something in the form of a lingam under the neem tree.

Later, while digging the soil under the birch tree, it was found that there was a 3 feet high Shiva lingam statue between the roots. Following that, the Shiva lingam was excavated in the presence of the villagers. Also, it is said that this Shiva lingam statue may be a thousand years old as it is square in shape.

Following this, the temple priests were called there and pujas were held for the Shivalingam. Hearing this news, a large number of people gathered in the area to see the Shivalinga.
