MKBHD New “Panels” App is Horrible...

I recently tried out Panels, and while I appreciate the features and design, I like hundreds of comments on his video feel that some of the monetization choices could benefit from improvement. The app currently employs monetization practices like in-app purchases, subscription tiers, or ads that may feel a bit aggressive to some users. It's important for apps to strike a balance between providing value and monetizing, and in this case, I believe there is room for refining how users are asked to pay for premium features. Of course, this is just my perspective, and others may find the current setup perfectly fine. This is obviously my own opinion, and is not made to hate on the app as it can and may get better in the future.

12 dollars a month for iphone wallpapers is INSANE, and the worst part is that you are forced to download poor quality wallpaper after watching ads? This is crazy

I think he launched the App in a hurry, he wanted the app to reach the most number of viewers possible and we already know every subscriber is going to watch his iPhone review video.

It's the product itself. Wallpapers were a bad idea. If he has more up his sleeve he should have waited until that was ready so the product will have more substance.

I can appreciate that its supposedly real art from real artists and they get paid too, but the reality is there's millions of HD wallpapers you can get for free. The market is just too saturated with content and people will just go for the free and easy route.

I'm guessing the $12 a month price is meant for 99.9% of people who just want the app for a month to get a wallpaper or two and don't want a whole year.

The ads and extra collection bullshit is pretty extreme 😂

Some people are trying to say that it's a hate mob because people are giving him such a hard time in the comments but that is ludicrous. Mhkbd It's not just some guy with a YouTube channel anymore. He's the CEO of a company probably worth a hundred million dollars. The pricing should be scrutinized just as you would any other 100 million company.

SD in panels app is still 1080p not 480p,
Most displays won't show enough difference if seen from distance.

Why making a fuss about it ?
If you don't think is usefull then don't buy the subscription and don't use the app, stop complaining about other people businesses.

The only realy bad thing on this app, at least for me, is the data collection. That is stupid!

not defending mkbhd, but with 1$ per month he will not have any profit. subscribe for 1 month, download whole library and cancel subscription. that is what people would do (and probably will do even at the current prices). so, at least he will get 12$ for whole library
