What's the point of this odd variation? I mean... you could... but why?

In the video, Jonathan Schrantz explores the Englund Gambit and points out an interesting but not entirely necessary refutation of this popular gambit.

Any other openings you need a pointless line against?

Love the Nd5 move after they take the bishop, most of the time it just stuns the would-be englund gambiteer.

Dear Jonathan, you are an excellent Teacher and through your channel, you give us fans very good teachings, and I hope you will soon reach 100, 000 subscribers, I knew the counter gambit, but not as deep as you explain it. I am very happy to be able to enjoy your teachings, I live in Argentina, I am a doctor and I admire the strength and tenacity that you put into your teaching vocation.

While this may be completely pointless, it's super entertaining nonetheless! Thanks for the video!

I have found a very interesting gambit for you to check out it's in the Panov after dxc4 bxc4 nc6 nc3 offering up the d4 pawn but with engine approved compensation it becomes very sharp very quickly, good stuff

Definitely not pointless, against lower rated players this is a tricky opening and they rarely play best moves

Im pretty stupid and cant remember the 8 moves of theory for the standard Englund refutation. So I just play this one now and no one else knows it so now I win.
