Back when JD Vance was campaigning, the local Republican Party hosted him in our small Appalachian community. A snow storm hit and only 9 people braved the roads to come hear him. He was wonderful to us! He genuinely gave his best to connect with us and answered questions so respectfully. I was sold that day and we feel like we experienced an example of his character and the value with which he treated our little group.

I just rewatched Hillbilly Ellage it was worth the watch. I’m from the coal mining town of Grundy Virginia my daddy, brother and three sisters worked in the coal mines. We were poor but my family has owned and lived on the same land for over two hundred years. I know what family means to us. I think JD Vance has a place that God has given him in our history. God bless him to be the man who will help President Trump to make this country a safer place for his children.

One thing that struck me looking at J.D. Vance's face was that he had sparkling, bright eyes.
To me, that denotes honesty and inner spirituality.

Thank you for this, Megyn. I just finished watching your interview with J.D. 7 years ago and together with this video, I have had my head cleared of all the garbage being said about him. Hillbilly Elegy has meant a lot to me, what with my also being a survivor of horrendous childhood abuse which continues to this day. I am 68 years of age, my abuser is 95, and continues to dispel darkness due to her own painful background. J.D.'s memoir is a testimony to hope, that goodness, determination, and hard work, in line with God's hand, can pull us out of the cycle of destructiveness. I didn't want to believe the character assassination aimed at him. I am now confident in the reality of who this man truly is. This is a gift.
